Two Decades Of Steel, Built On Tolerance.
We started as a two-bay welding shop in 2003. Two decades later we're a 6,200 m² workshop running structural & mechanical engineering, structural steel fabrication, and site erection for clients across five industries — still run on the same principle: build it to the drawing, every time.
From Two Bays To A Structural Workshop
Rctshuma Fabrication was founded in 2003 by Farai Rctshuma, a boilermaker who spent a decade on mining and construction sites before deciding the industry needed a fabricator that treated tolerance as non-negotiable, not aspirational.
What began as a two-bay welding operation grew, project by project, into a full structural steel workshop — CNC cutting, a dedicated beam line, in-house detailing, and fourteen coded welding bays under one roof. We still turn away work that doesn't fit our quality process, even when it would be easier to say yes.
In 2025 we brought structural and mechanical engineering in-house under a registered Pr.Eng, rather than spin up a separate division — the same team that signs off the calculations now sits down the hall from the team cutting the steel, so a design decision doesn't need a week of emails to resolve.
Today we engineer, fabricate, and erect steel for construction, mining, agriculture, commercial, and residential clients across Gauteng and the Highveld — but the shop floor still runs on the habit that built it: check the drawing, check the fit, check it again.
- 2003Founded as a two-bay welding workshop in Alrode, Alberton.
- 2009Added structural fabrication and first CNC plasma cutting table.
- 2014ISO 9001 certification achieved; workshop expanded to 6,200 m².
- 2018In-house design & detailing team established (Tekla Structures).
- 2022AWS D1.1 recertification across all coded welders; 40,000th ton fabricated.
- 2025Structural & mechanical engineering brought in-house under a registered Pr.Eng — concept to signed-off design to fabrication, one company.
- 202622 years in operation, 1,150+ projects completed across five industries.
6,200 m² Under One Roof
Cutting, structural fabrication, welding, finishing, and dispatch run as one continuous floor plan — material moves from raw stock to piece-marked, coated product without leaving the building.
The Team Running The Floor
Small enough that the founder still signs off on connection details, structured enough to run fourteen welding bays without a bottleneck.
Farai Rctshuma
Founded the workshop in 2003 after ten years as a boilermaker on mining and construction sites. Still walks the shop floor daily.
Lindiwe Dube
Runs day-to-day shop operations and production scheduling across all coded welding bays and cutting lines.
Naledi Mahlangu
Registered Professional Engineer leading structural and mechanical design in-house, from concept analysis through to Pr.Eng sign-off.
Johan Kruger
Heads the shop drawing and detailing team, working directly off our own Engineering team's signed-off designs.
Sipho Ndlovu
Certified rigger and lift supervisor overseeing every site erection crew and safety file from mobilisation to sign-off.
Certifications & Safety
Every certification below is current and audited — not a one-time badge. Ask any quoting fabricator for proof; we keep ours on file for review.
