Structural & Mechanical Engineering

Structural and mechanical engineering design, load analysis, and Pr.Eng sign-off — developed in-house and handed directly to our own fabrication shop.

[OVW]Overview

What This Service Covers

We brought engineering in-house because too many projects lose time and budget in the handoff between an external engineer and the fabricator actually cutting the steel. Our engineering team designs and analyses the structure or equipment, then passes the calculation package straight to our own detailing and fabrication teams — one continuous process instead of three companies passing files back and forth.

Structural engineering covers primary and secondary steel design, connection design, and load analysis — dead, live, wind, and seismic where relevant — to SANS 10160 and SANS 10162. Mechanical engineering covers equipment support structures, conveyor and chute design, and handling components that need to integrate directly with the structural steel around them.

Every package is signed off by a registered Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng / ECSA), so it's valid for building control submission — and because it's the same company from concept to completed structure, revisions during fabrication don't mean waiting on an external consultant to respond.

Use Cases
  • Full structural design for new-build steel structures
  • Load analysis and Pr.Eng sign-off for existing structures under new load
  • Mechanical equipment support and conveyor structure design
  • Independent review or sign-off of a third-party design before fabrication
  • Municipal building control submission packages

How We Deliver This

Every job runs through the same sequence — nothing skipped to hit a date.

01

Brief & Site Data

Loading requirements, site conditions, and any existing structural constraints confirmed up front.

02

Concept & Analysis

Structural or mechanical concept modelled and analysed against the governing design code.

03

Detailed Design

Member sizing, connection design, and load path finalised, coordinated with our own detailing team.

04

Pr.Eng Sign-Off

Calculation package and drawings certified by a registered Professional Engineer.

05

Handover to Fabrication

Signed-off design passed directly into our shop drawing and fabrication process — no external handoff delay.

[FAQ]Questions

Engineering — Frequently Asked

Engineering is the professional analysis and design work — load calculations, member sizing, and Pr.Eng sign-off — that determines what gets built. Design & Consultation is the shop-drawing detailing and connection drafting that happens once the engineering is settled. Most projects use both, in sequence, from the same in-house team.
