Van Wyk Grain Storage Facility
Clear-span grain storage structure and silo support steel, fully hot-dip galvanized for a 25-year exposed-environment lifespan.
The Spec
An existing timber-framed store had reached end of life and needed replacement with a steel structure able to support silo loading points without internal columns obstructing loader access.
Our Approach
We engineered a 24 m clear-span portal frame with reinforced loading-point purlins, fully hot-dip galvanized rather than painted, given the site's remote location and limited access for repaint maintenance.
The Result
The structure has operated through two full harvest seasons with no coating maintenance required, and the clear span has cut loader turnaround time on-site significantly.
